We're lifelong friends, Iowa boys and outdoor fanatics to the core – hunting, fishing, camping, you name it, but our favorite time of year is when we're out on the river in search of monster trophy catfish, mainly flatheads. Pulling giant catfish out of a living, breathing river is an experience like no other. It's one of those things that makes you feel alive. Guess you could say it's also one of the things that binds us together.
It's that time of year again, but this year, the MudbuMs have something new in store...a store. So, along with getting everything else ready for the fishing season to kick off, the boys also have to get the Supply Shack ready for its grand opening.
This week, the MudbuMs spend a weekend at Boender's. After setting the first Hawg Lawgs of the year, Boender takes the boys bow fishing to his top secret spot with the hopes of putting them on some monster carp.
The mushrooms are popping, and you know what that means. The temperature might finally be perfect, so the MudbuMs head out to an old favorite. The Green Hornet is a bit different than the rivers they normally run, but it may just hold monsters.
This time last year, those river runnin' MudbuMs had the best fishing week of their lives. The water is getting warm and the monster cats are feeding up before the spawn, but will they have the same results as last year?
It's hotter than two mice dancing in a wool prom sock, so the ol' Bums pass the time with a BB gun shootout and a float trip. Then, an unexpected turn of events leaves them wondering how they will make it home.
It's time for something new. The MudbuMs decide to leave the small rivers they know so well and head to the Big ol' Windy to put their new Rail Splitter rods to the test. This week, the focus changes from flatheads to big blues.
The MudbuMs are back on the Big Windy. Lucky for them, the landowner used to be a commercial fisherman and shows them some of his favorite holes then takes them to his secret bait pond to see if live bait will help bring out the big blues.
Winter is here, so the Hawg Lawgs and Rail Splitters are hung up. This week, the MudbuMs head back to the Chainsaw Ranch to run a different set of lines, trap lines. It's much colder than last year, so they are hoping that brings the predators out.
It's mighty cold, but that didn't seem to bother the bobcats last week. With a few more days at the Chainsaw Ranch, the MudbuMs are hoping to trap a few more predators, and during a little downtime, they decide to find out who is the best shot.
You've asked for it, so we decided to close season three out with a two part story on the MudbuMs. In Part One, you will learn about how each guy was brought up to love the outdoors and what inevitably brought them all together.
This week, on the second half of the MudbuM Story, we take a look back at how the Hawg Lawg came about and all the road blocks along the way. We also take a look at how the show got started as well as the progression of MudbuM life on the river.
